Resurgam 2026 Rocked!
The Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) successfully concluded the 2026 Resurgam Music & Arts Festival on June 14, marking the event’s first expansion into a two-day celebration across Portland’s Old Port and waterfront.
More than 50 local businesses, organizations, venues, and foundations—including OTTO, the City of Portland, Old Port Square, WMPG, SailMaine, Portland Symphony Orchestra, SPACE, Portland Pottery, Love Lab Studio, and many others—supported the festival through sponsorships, grants, programming, and in-kind contributions. Their involvement shaped every corner of the weekend, from multiple stages of live music to family activities and performances in venues across the city.

“This year’s festival was a testament to Portland’s phenomenal community,” said Jeff Shaw, Executive Director of MAMM. “Expanding to two days allowed us to create more opportunities for students to perform as well as bring in powerhouse bands from across the state. Seeing celebrated artists support the students was incredibly meaningful, and it only happened because so many community partners believed in the vision and came together.”
More than 30 live performances filled stages and partner venues throughout the weekend. Young musicians traveled from as far away as Bangor to perform—an experience that reflects MAMM’s mission to help students develop their craft, build confidence, and grow as artists.

The festival opened Saturday at the all-new Old Port Square stage with a showcase of artists from the Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship (LEAF), presented by One Longfellow Square. Singer-songwriter Thomas Charles Clukey opened the weekend with a stunning solo performance, setting the tone for an evening of world-class music featuring Cilla Bonnie and The Speed of Sound. Down the hill, the Dana Street stage kicked off with performances by student, adult, and faculty bands from MAMM.
Sunday was a day of family-friendly and interactive experiences on the waterfront, with dozens of student bands playing on the big stage. Groups such as the all-female Mediocre Men showcased the phenomenal talent of Generation Alpha.
The festival wrapped up on Sunday evening with a packed waterfront performance by Coyote Island. This Maine-based indie-folk, reggae, and tropical psychedelia project first performed in its current lineup at a previous Resurgam festival. Their return to the festival, having toured globally to critical acclaim, underscores Resurgam’s commitment to supporting exclusively Maine artists.

Beyond the music, families enjoyed free sailing excursions on Casco Bay, interactive art activities, an instrument petting zoo, a pop-up skate park, local makers, food vendors, and beautiful weather. Every experience remained free and open to the public—a reflection of the community partnerships powering this two-day event and Resurgam’s commitment to making music and the arts accessible to all.
