Resurgam Announces Community Partners, Arts Vendors, and Interactive Experiences for 2026 Festival
The Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) today announced the community partners and arts organizations that will join the 2026 Resurgam Music & Arts Festival, returning June 13–14 to Portland’s Old Port and waterfront.
In addition to more than 30 live musical performances across multiple stages, this year’s free festival features youth-focused arts programming and interactive experiences throughout the weekend — with many of the family and community activities centered around the waterfront festival grounds at Ocean Gateway on Sunday 14th.
Presented by MAMM in partnership with the City of Portland, OTTO, and community collaborators, Resurgam builds on its mission of providing a sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant annual arts celebration that fosters community transformation and civic pride in Portland, Maine.
“It really takes the entire community to make something like this happen,” said Kerstin Gilg, Development Manager at MAMM. “We’re a school of rock for teenagers, and the fact that we’re producing a festival that welcomes more than 10,000 attendees only happens because of community buy-in. Resurgam is becoming a place where arts organizations, youth programs, cultural groups, and local businesses can all participate together.”
Some of this year’s offerings include SailMaine, which offers mini sailing excursions during the festival, giving the public an opportunity to experience the beauty of Casco Bay.
“SailMaine is offering festival guests a really authentic Maine experience,” said Gilg. “People can zip around Casco Bay while there’s a music festival happening right there on the waterfront.”
Sal’s Skate Park also returns with its popular, pop-up skate park in the Main Stage area. Skateboarders are welcome to showcase their talents while nearby bands play folk, rock, punk, and indie music. It’s organized by another local business, Sal’s Skate and Apparel in South Portland.
The festival welcomes back Maine Public, who are bringing their instrument donation drive to Resurgam. Stop by their tent on Saturday, June 14 and drop off “a lightly used instrument.” The initiative will redistribute that instrument to schools and music programs, helping expand access to music education for students statewide.
“Some of the instruments you’ll see students playing on stage at the festival may very well have come through the Maine Public instrument drive,” points out Gilg.
Other music partners include Bull Moose, which hosts the “Festival Merch Booth,” selling t-shirts, CDs, vinyl, and bandanas on behalf of local bands. Community radio station WMPG and community music studio [the square] co-host the MoonTide Park stage, curating an edgy cast of bands while their DJs play between sets.
Inside the Ocean Gateway visitor center, meanwhile, a whole world of activities awaits. Children and families can participate in unique creative experiences, such as the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s “Instrument Petting Zoo,” where young attendees can play orchestral instruments alongside professional musicians.
Gilg said the growing number of community collaborations reflects the festival’s broader vision of creating a shared cultural experience that extends far beyond music alone.
“One of our long-term ideas at MAMM is building one big community celebration where different arts organizations, youth groups, and creative programs can all participate together,” Gilg said. “That’s what makes Resurgam feel special—it reflects so many different parts of Portland’s creative community.”
